If your organization uses Microsoft Conditional Access to ensure important information is only accessed on trusted devices, you may need to register your Mac before accessing company resources.
1 - Launch MacManage and click the red Register device button in the bottom-left corner:
2 - Click Continue:
3 - The Company Portal app will launch - click Sign In:
4 - Authenticate with your Microsoft credentials, including MFA if applicable:
*Note - if you're already signed into SSO on your Mac, you may be skipped straight to step 6
5 - You'll see a screen similar to this when you've successfully signed in. Click Done:
6 - MacManage will then check for any Microsoft accounts and ask you to select the one you'd like to register. Select your preferred account and click Continue:
*Note: in certain environments, a web browser window may open and you'll be asked to authenticate again with your Microsoft credentials. Follow the prompts, including selecting a certificate and providing your Mac login password if asked.
7 - The SSO window will close and you'll be informed that registration is complete in MacManage. Click Done:
We're aware of an unusual bug where this message can sometimes instead read "Registration Error", but your Mac has successfully registered. If you reboot and reopen MacManage, you should see the "Registered" status in the next screenshot.
8 - You can confirm your device is registered by checking for your registration status in the bottom-left corner:
TROUBLESHOOTING
- If you begin to see unexpected alerts that you need to "Set up your device to get access" when trying to authenticate with Microsoft, try rebooting. This generally means your Mac has been unable to send a heartbeat to Microsoft for a certain amount of time, and Microsoft has opted not to trust the device.
- If symptoms persist after rebooting, open MacManage and check your compliance status by clicking Check Status in the bottom-left corner:
This will let you know if your Mac has gone out of compliance for some reason. Check the rules to see what you need to do to become compliant and regain access.
