[Legacy Jamf-only Feature]
Vision-Bot has the ability to disable alerts. This is helpful when you know a device is not in use and you don't want to receive ongoing reminders that the device hasn't checked in or backed up.
Robot Cloud subscribers and Forget Computers clients will need to request this designation. If you manage your own Jamf Server (JSS) and subscribe to Vision-Bot then below is how you make it work in your instance.
STEP 1
Using the screengrab below as a guide, add the following Extensions Attribute to your JSS:
- macOS: JSS > Settings (Gear icon) > Computer Management > Extension Attributes > New
- iOS: JSS > Settings (Gear icon) > Mobile Device Management > Extension Attributes > New
Once one or both of these Extension Attributes is created you will find the setting in the device User and Location area of the JSS. PLEASE NOTE:
- You must use Status as the Display Name for both macOS and iOS. Otherwise, Vision-Bot will not recognize them.
- The Recon Display option applies to macOS only. You will not see it as an option for iOS.
STEP 2
Within Vision-Bot, go to the Configuration page (found under your name in the upper-right corner):
STEP 3
Scroll down to Inactive status and specify what value to match in your JSS. JSS devices that have a Status matching this value will be considered inactive within Vision-Bot. Changes take place upon the next hourly API call to your JSS. Inactive devices have alerts disabled. You can even specify a single word or character set. Although we used the phrase "powered off" in our example, we could have also simply specified "off".
