macOS 26, Tahoe, includes a new Clipboard history feature in your Spotlight search results. Clipboard items are retained for 8 hours after use, allowing you to access previously cut or copied content quickly. Many users leverage third-party tools for this, but it is now available as part of the OS.
As of the initial release of macOS Tahoe, however, these clipboard items are presented unredacted during screen recording sessions. Be exceedingly careful if you use this feature and regularly share your screen on video calls! If the meeting is recorded, you may be sharing your personal or business passwords, sensitive information, API keys, and more in plaintext. This setting can be toggled at the bottom of System Settings > Spotlight, titled "Clipboard Search".
Clipboard history can be a great productivity feature for daily use, but please consider the security implications before enabling it. Or set yourself a reminder to disable the feature before meetings to keep that data secured.
