Automatic app deployment is a key component of supporting iPhones and iPads in your organization. It ensures that business-critical applications are available on all of your devices, ensuring a consistent work experience across your team. There are specific apps, however, that may only need to be available to a small subset of users, or only needed in certain work situations. For limited deployments, making these apps available for users to install on-demand may be a more appropriate solution.
Addigy's Self Service allows us to create and curate a mini App Store for your devices that includes pre-approved and pre-licensed apps for your users to install with a single tap. Are your users leveraging Managed Apple Accounts? These accounts do not permit users to download apps from the App Store, but they can still install apps from Self Service. That's because apps deployed in this manner are licensed to the iPad or iPhone itself, not the current Apple Account. This is a powerful way to ensure your team has the ability to install important, approved applications without creating service escalations for assistance or logging into their Personal Apple Accounts on business-use mobile devices.
Once configured, Self Service will appear like any other app on your device's home screens:
Tapping on the app will open the Self Service Library (see top screenshot). Users can tap any app to get more information:
And then tap the Install button to queue up the installation. The "Install" button will update to show you the app status, from "Queued" to "Installed". Check your home screen and the app should be downloaded and ready for use.
Would your team benefit from a Self Service library? Please reach out to your Account Manager to discuss.
