Under certain circumstances, it may be required to refresh your Mac's connection to MDM services (mobile device management). The delivery of MDM commands and profiles (managed settings) require this connection to be fully operational in order to function.
If your Mac is enrolled with support but missing MDM, you may receive intermittent notifications to approve it. In a situation where you're fully enrolled but the feature has stopped working, you won't see any change right away. Here are the steps you can take to try and renew your connection.
Re-enroll your Mac
Was your Mac manually enrolled into Addigy MDM, not through Automated Device Enrollment during unboxing? If so, the support desk can help find your organization's unique enrollment link to download a fresh copy of your MDM enrollment profile. Double-click the downloaded profile and proceed as if you were enrolling for the first time.
Renew via MacManage
If your Mac was enrolled via Automated Device Enrollment, we have a renewal item available in MacManage (Addigy's self service application for Mac). Search for "Renew" and click the "Install" button:
Follow the prompts as they appear. In macOS Sequoia, you should see this notification appear in the top-right corner of your screen:
Hover your mouse over the notification to see your options. Click Update:
System Settings will open - click Update:
When prompted, type your username and password to finish the process.
Please note the look of the prompts and button names may be different in older versions of macOS.
Renew via Terminal
You can trigger the entire above workflow via a Terminal command:
sudo profiles renew -type enrollment
If successful, you will receive the same notification as in the MacManage workflow. In some instances, you may see an error letting you know that the command needs to be run from a different user account. Additional guidance on this command has been provided by Addigy here.
