Keeping your operating system and third-party apps up to date is a full-time job. Here's how Ntiva manages these items by default.
macOS

Major upgrades (macOS 14 to macOS 15) are deferred for at least 30 days by default. Ntiva does not enforce the installation of major upgrades. More information on how your users can upgrade their Macs can be found here.

Minor updates (macOS 15.6 to macOS 15.7) are deployed via MDM/DDM Software Update channels and are deployed with a 7-day compliance deadline. Users are notified daily until the due date, and then the Mac will try to run the update autonomously overnight. More information here.

App Store Apps deployed by Addigy are set to automatically update as new versions are released by their developers. App Store App updates for apps downloaded by users are unmanaged - users can opt to enable automatic updates for these or leave them off. There are certain enterprise environments in which automatic updates are not recommended, and we acknowledge that these individual differences must be permitted.

3rd party software - Update cadence changes based on application:
- Unsupported apps custom-deployed by Ntiva via Addigy are updated monthly.

Supported apps deployed by the Addigy Prebuilt Apps library are deferred for 3 days, then updated with a 14-day due date policy (more info). Example apps include:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Zoom
- Microsoft Office apps are updated via Microsoft AutoUpdate with a 7 day due date policy
iOS/iPadOS
- All major upgrades and minor updates are deployed via MDM/DDM Software Update channels and are deployed with a 7-day compliance deadline. Please note that major upgrades are deferred by default for approximately 45 days to wait for the first minor update with bug fixes to be published by Apple.
- App Store Apps deployed by Addigy are set to automatically update as new versions are released by their developers. App Store App updates for apps downloaded by users are unmanaged - users can opt to enable automatic updates for these or leave them off. There are certain enterprise environments in which automatic updates are not recommended, and we acknowledge that these individual differences must be permitted.
